Achilles Surgery - Post Surgery Injury?

Due to the position placed on the surgery table (flat on stomach with head turned sideways) it resulted in pinched nerve in right bicep and has created a dull numbness, which has not recovered in over 1 year. Is this normal or should I pursue? Surgeon doesn't understand how this happened.
