Could he be interested and just too busy right now?

Decided to court an extremely intelligent, ambitious and fairly wealthy young man. Graduated an Ivy League yesterday and is going on to become an investment banker - relevant only in considering this job usually involves 90-100 hrs/wk to begin. Knew him as acquaintance in high school, haven't talked since (4yrs). Emailed him few times abt meeting up when he's back in town (August). Each response has been very polite/kind and you can tell much time went into it. I've hinted at wanting a bit more than friendship (date) but kept it very discreet - could be interpreted either way. He's said he wants my friendship but is worried he can't be a good friend w/such a job at this pt in life. Would still like to meet up w/me but "being honest". Never taken my hints abt possible date. Is he politely turning me down? If so, why respond each time in long form and so nicely? Keeping a good reputation of gentleman or actually genuinely busy now and might I have a chance later? Want a date so badly!
