What does he want need your helpful advice?

i met a guy nearly 6 year ago id just split up from my child's father my head was all over the place stu was there but he was young he had his life to live.. what happened between us was special, but basically just as quickly had it started it fizzled out, no bitterness or anything, we kept in touch by text. stu got on with his life and i had mine and my child's to get on with, stu was there for me and my son he didn't judge, anyway were in proper contact all the time now and i dunno but he was saying he was sorry for whatever had gone on in the past, that he was young and stupid, but i didnt get why he is saying that because we wasn't in a proper relationship, he has nothing to be sorry for, he said he loves me but my head is done in with it all. guess you could say i did have feelings for him an they haven't changed he still makes me get erflies hearing him or when he texts..i stayed single after him not because he broke my heart but cause i wanted to concentrate on my child... didn't want different guys in and out of his life.. but im just confused at what is happening i really didn't know someone please work it out for me im so confused i know i need to talk to him but just didnt know what to say
