Lets talk about tips to restaurant server?

Ok I just got hired on at Black Angus in San Diego CA. The manager said the average waiter sells about $700 on an weeknight shift and an average $1300 on Weekend night shift. Does this sound accurate, cause if this is true, this could be a very good job where I could make a lot of money. If you have worked at black angus please share your expieriences
